A film telling the stories those bereaved by suicide.
Suicide&Co is a charity that provides emotional and practical support for anyone bereaved by suicide, including a counselling service, and a wealth of online resources. The charity had developed an app to provide further support to it’s service users, and they wanted to create a film to promote the app, featuring some of their service users that had helped to test the app.

Using my screen stories process, the film was created entirely remotely. Inviting the contributors to a zoom call, I used my experience as a listening volunteer to listen to their stories, as they spoke about their experiences of losing a loved one to suicide. The client and I made the decision in the edit to shift the structure of the stories, so the context of how they were bereaved is given right at the end of the film. This helped give an emotional arc to the film.
“The whole process has been fantastic and seamless. Andy’s attitude to the work is brilliant and so professional. For a busy small team he worked on his own but consulted when necessary which is exactly what we needed! Couldn’t recommend Andy highly enough!”
The film was released on social media on the day of the app release, and viewed over 14,000 times on Instagram. The app had 700+ downloads four months later, and continues to be used by those bereaved by suicide across the country. The film was also screened at the charity’s gala, where those watching were visibly moved by the film.
I create meaningful fundraising videos called Screen Stories through an online production process, combining interviews recorded over Zoom with compelling edits, to tell stories that need to be heard.
